As a step up from the FD 8704CC, the Formax FD 8714CC proves ideal for destroying documents and media for offices of any various sizes. Countless paper shredders handle the standard materials, including paper, staples, paperclips, credit cards, and CDs/DVDs. However, this multimedia shredder takes things a step further, destroying USB thumb drives, mini-DV tapes, and more as well! With two dedicated feed openings, the FD8714CC makes shredding documents and multimedia super quick and easy. The media hopper will accept several pieces of media at once (multiple CDs/DVDs, several USB drives, etc.). The user can also feed up to 27 sheets per pass in the 9.4" paper opening. Shredding up to 25 feet per minute, the 8714CC offers a decent bin capacity of up to 34 gallons. This cross cut shredder turns your once solid documents into 5/32" x 1-5/8" particles. Thanks to the optical sensor located in the paper opening, simply start feeding your documents and FD8714CC will automatically begin shredding. Once the last sheet is detected, the shredder will automatically cease operation. The LED Control Panel features icons to indicate automatic, manual, and stop functions, reverse mode, bin full, and door open. This control panel also features a Load Indicator, a series of colored lights that alert sheet capacity levels. While green lights indicate appropriate sheet capacity levels, the red lights warn the user of risk of paper jams or other problems. The heat-treated steel blades are specially ground for longevity and require minimal oiling. However, the FD8714 can be equipped with an optional automatic oiling system, to keep this unit in peak operating condition. An auto cleaning function is also available. If the user notices a decrease in shred capacity, simply press the reverse button for 5 seconds and the motor will run in reverse for 1 minute. The handy Self-Diagnosis System records operation time, number of auto-reverse sequences, volume of paper shredded, and can display information for service technicians.
