What is a Paper Cutter?
September 05, 2023Paper cutters are devices that cut large stacks of paper, typically 25-50 sheets at once, with precision and accuracy. There are different sizes of cutters available in the market - from small, handheld models to huge, heavy-duty industrial machines.
Cutters include characteristics such as a cutting base, cutting arm, and safety features. A cutting base is the surface where the paper is placed for cutting. It can have measurement and alignment markings, or rulers, to guide the users to make a perfect and precise cut. The cutting arm is the main piece of the product, and can be utilized manually or powered by a lever, handle, or motorized mechanism. The arm has a blade that can cut through stacks of paper with one slice. Since cutting blades are sharp, most cutters have safety features like blade guards and locking mechanisms to protect the user from an accidental injury.
Paper cutters are preferred over scissors because you can cleanly and accurately cut multiple papers at once, and are frequently used in offices, schools, print shops, and craft studios.
